About the Role

We are looking for a Head of Legal & AML who will oversee all legal matters and the full Anti-Money Laundering framework for ZEN.COM's operations in Ukraine. This role combines strategic legal leadership with responsibility for designing and supervising an effective AML/CTF program that meets Ukrainian and international standards.

You will serve as the primary legal advisor for the business in Ukraine, supporting product, commercial, and operational teams, managing legal documentation, and ensuring that AML policies and controls remain robust, up-to-date, and effective.

 
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Leadership:
  • Provide end-to-end legal support for payments, card services, commercial agreements, partnerships, and vendor relationships.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts (including issuing, acquiring, PSP, BIN-related agreements, outsourcing, IT, and service contracts).
  • Oversee corporate governance processes in accordance with Ukrainian law.
  • Advise business leaders on legal risks, product structuring, customer documentation, T&Cs, marketing claims, and consumer-facing communications.
  • Support internal teams with legal interpretations, dispute management, and cooperation with external counsel.
  • Manage legal aspects of data protection (GDPR + Ukrainian privacy regulations) and data-processing arrangements.
AML/CTF Framework:
  • Build and supervise the AML/CTF program for ZEN.COM Ukraine, ensuring alignment with local legislation and international standards.
  • Oversee KYC/KYB rules, onboarding flows, transaction monitoring scenarios, sanctions screening, and ongoing due-diligence controls.
  • Ensure proper SAR/STR reporting, record-keeping, documentation, and internal escalation procedures.
  • Conduct AML risk assessments, internal reviews, and periodic updates of policies and procedures.
  • Train teams on AML obligations and foster a culture of awareness and responsibility.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure AML requirements are integrated into products, processes, and operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with product, finance, risk, compliance, IT, customer operations, and commercial teams to ensure legal and AML considerations are correctly built into new initiatives.
  • Provide timely guidance to senior management on legal exposure, AML risks, and required mitigations.
Qualifications
  • Qualified lawyer with 7+ years of experience in fintech, banking, payments, or financial services.
  • Strong legal expertise in commercial law, financial services contracts, consumer documentation, and data protection.
  • Proven experience in AML/CTF program design, oversight, and execution.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, able to translate complex legal topics into practical guidance.
  • Experience working with international stakeholders and external counsel.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and English.
