PART-TIME RESEARCH ASSISTANT / SENIOR ASSISTANT CONSULTANCY

The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is a non-profit organization working to strengthen democracy worldwide. NDI-Ukraine is currently seeking a part-time Research Assistant or Senior Research Assistant Consultancy for its Research Program based in Kyiv, Ukraine. The position is envisioned to be engaged part-time between hours/week with the potential to become a 40 hour/week engagement based on interest, performance, and availability of funds. The selected candidate will contribute to the design and development of public opinion research while ensuring smooth operations and communication within the team, the administration team, and with external partners. Successful candidate(s) will also be provided on-the-job training and professional development opportunities.

Position Title: Research Assistant/Senior Research Assistant Consultancy, NDI Ukraine

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the research technical lead, perform day-to-day tasks related to NDI's research projects;
  • Contribute to the design of survey instruments and questionnaires;
  • Manage data scripts in various software environments for multiple research projects;
  • Contribute to the process of data analysis and visualization of NDI's research projects;
  • Contribute to bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on relevant research activities;
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the program, ensuring prompt and accurate internal communication and responding to routine inquiries;
  • Provide high-quality oral interpretation and written translation from English into Ukrainian and vice versa as needed; and
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in sociology, political sciences, or a related field required; graduate degree desired.
  • Previous experience in working on qualitative and quantitative research (social research, market research, academic research or other research oriented environment) required.
  • Knowledge of database software required (e.g. STATA, R, SPSS), familiarity with STATA is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a constructive member of a team.
  • Fluency in English and Ukrainian required.
  • Working knowledge of Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.).
