Public Health Emergency Response Coordinator

Job Overview

The World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Health Emergency Response Coordinator to join our team. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the organization's response to public health emergencies, including outbreaks and disasters.

About the Role

This position reports directly to the WHO Country Office and is responsible for coordinating the implementation of emergency response programs in collaboration with national authorities, partners, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in public health management, operations, and emergency response, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.

Main Responsibilities

The Public Health Emergency Response Coordinator will be responsible for:
• Coordinating the development and implementation of emergency response plans and strategies;
• Providing technical assistance and support to national authorities and partners on emergency preparedness and response;
• Collaborating with other WHO teams and external partners to ensure a comprehensive and effective response to public health emergencies;
• Conducting risk assessments and monitoring the situation during emergencies;
• Developing and implementing training programs for staff and partners on emergency response and preparedness;
• Providing input into the development of WHO policies and guidelines on emergency response and preparedness;
• Maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and other partners.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:
• An advanced university degree in public health, international relations, or a related field;
• At least seven years of work experience in public health management, emergency response, and operations, preferably with an international organization or NGO;
• Proven experience in leading emergency response efforts and working with governments, NGOs, and other partners;
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing situations;
• Fluency in English (written and spoken);
