Health Crisis Response Specialist

The World Health Organization seeks a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Field Coordination Officer.

As a Field Coordination Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that WHO's emergency programme objectives are met at the subnational level. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including national and international partners, to design and implement programmes that prepare for, detect, rapidly respond to, and recover from outbreaks and emergencies.

You will be responsible for managing WHO's health humanitarian response in relevant sub-national emergency contexts, coordinating technical and operational inputs, and guiding the systematic identification and monitoring of health risks and needs. Additionally, you will lead the planning and implementation of effective preparedness, prevention, control, and response strategies, as well as develop and promote collaborative partnerships especially in emergency contexts.

To succeed in this role, you must have a strong understanding of public health management and operations, with experience working in international environments. Your expertise in emergency management, rapid response operations, and capacity building is essential. You should also possess excellent communication skills, ability to work in a multicultural environment, and a commitment to promoting individual and cultural differences.

• Manage WHO's health humanitarian response in relevant sub-national emergency contexts
• Coordinate technical and operational inputs, including resources mobilization
• Guide the systematic identification and monitoring of health risks and needs
• Lead the planning and implementation of effective preparedness, prevention, control, and response strategies
• Develop and promote collaborative partnerships especially in emergency contexts

• An advanced university degree in public health or a related field
• A minimum of seven years of work experience in public health management and operations
• Experience working in international environments, with some experience in emergency management and rapid response operations
• Strong understanding of public health management and operations principles, methods, and techniques
• Excellent communication skills, ability to work in a multicultural environment, and a commitment to promoting individual and cultural differences
