Researcher in Bioinformatics

We are seeking a creative and collaborative Researcher in Bioinformatics to join the Laboratory for Mechanistic Learning of Ageing Biology at the Computer Science Department at KSE.

We aim to improve our understanding of ageing biology by focusing on two complementary approaches: model building and data analysis. As a bioinformatician, the researcher is expected to focus primarily on the latter axis while collaborating with the entire team. Specific projects will be defined together based on the researcher's aspirations and the lab philosophy.

Key missions and responsibilities include:

• Leverage in-house and public bioinformatics tools to analyse ageing and disease omics data.
• Formulate and computationally test new hypotheses regarding the causes, onset, development and/or effects of ageing in humans and model organisms.
• Support the model-building team with biological insights to improve the development of new computational methods.
• Support PhD and Master students in the lab.
• Publish research outcomes in high-impact journals and present at leading conferences.

The position is flexible but requires a minimum of 6 months per year of in-person presence in Kyiv to engage with the lab. We will assist with accommodation search and local logistics during this period.

Requirements for the position:

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computational Biology or a closely related field.
• Strong expertise in data analysis and statistics.
• Expertise in analysing single-cell omics data with appropriate R and/or Python packages.
• Demonstrated ability to perform independent research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
• Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
