About the job Chief Executive Officer - War Animal Adoption Centre

Our client is a Kyiv-based adoption centre dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs and cats from Ukraine's frontline regions. Founded in the aftermath of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Station explosion, the centre has since facilitated the adoption of over 1,800 animals both domestically and internationally.

They seek a CEO who will lead the strategic, financial, and operational development of the centre, ensuring its sustainability and continued impact. This role requires a commercially minded leader with strong experience in financial management, organisational administration, and strategic partnerships. The CEO will drive innovation, develop new revenue streams, and enhance the centre's regional and international presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the centre's strategic vision and growth roadmap
  • Lead high-level decision-making and represent the organisation to stakeholders
  • Foster a high-performance culture and align teams around core objectives
  • Oversee budget planning, financial controls, and reporting
  • Develop commercial strategies and new revenue-generating models
  • Drive fundraising through grants, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships
  • Optimise internal processes and ensure operational efficiency
  • Monitor project delivery, team performance, and quality of care standards
  • Implement organisational development initiatives and performance improvements
  • Represent the centre in national and international forums
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, partners, and government agencies
  • Promote the centre's mission and build its public profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' senior leadership experience in finance, administration, or commercial roles
  • Proven expertise in financial strategy, budgeting, and cost control
  • Track record in developing commercial partnerships and securing funding
  • Experience in mid-sized businesses or non-profit/social initiatives
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related fields
  • Strong organisational, team leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel, accounting tools, and CRM systems
  • English proficiency preferred; Ukrainian language required
  • Experience in animal welfare, social entrepreneurship, or humanitarian fields
  • Skills in partnership development, contract negotiation, and operational scaling
