We are seeking a Senior Risk Data Analyst with strong fintech experience and a background in emerging markets to join the client's Risk Analysis team. The role focuses on ad-hoc investigations, root-cause analyses, and rapid data insights that support decision-making across credit underwriting, collections, and fraud prevention.

This is an investigative and high-impact position, ideal for professionals who excel at bringing clarity during periods of portfolio volatility, market shifts, or unexpected data anomalies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis on portfolio performance, delinquency trends, and repayment behaviors

  • Conduct root cause analyses (RCA's) of unexpected risk events (e.g., sudden spike in defaults, fraud emergence, data pipeline errors)

  • Build clear, actionable presentations for C-Level leadership when urgent risk questions arise

  • Create self-service dashboards and drill-down tools to reduce bottlenecks in recurring investigations

  • Support model monitoring (drift, stability, back-testing) by providing supplementary analysis and collaborating with the DS team

  • Collaborate with collections and fraud teams to identify data-driven intervention opportunities

Requirements

  • 4+ years' experience as a data analyst in fintechs such as digital lending, payments, underwriting or fraud technology companies working in Africa or other emerging markets

  • Strong SQL and Python skills; experience with BI tools

  • Deep understanding of loan products, repayment cycles, collections flows, and portfolio KPIs

  • Ability to frame ambiguous problems, design structured analysis, and communicate clearly to non-technical executives

  • Proven track record of delivering insights under tight timelines

  • Excellent stakeholder management across technical (Data Science) and business (Collections, Finance, CRO) functions
