Jiji is a leading online marketplace in Africa. In 2019, we acquired OLX's business in five countries. Now, across these locations, the platform attracts over 13 million unique users monthly who engage with over 5 million ads with a total value of over $10 billion.

Jiji is currently among the most downloaded and highest-rated apps in African e-commerce.

We are seeking a Frontend Developer to design and develop fast, scalable, and user-focused web interfaces using and TypeScript, while taking ownership of technical decisions and driving product quality through initiative and problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain scalable frontend applications using
  • Collaborate closely with designers, backend developers, and product managers to implement new features and improve user experience.
  • Write clean and reusable code, following best practices and team conventions.
  • Help maintain and improve component libraries, design systems, and internal tools.
  • Optimize application performance, including render speed, bundle size, and load times.
  • Contribute to technical decision-making and architectural improvements.

Technical skills:

  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience with (2 and 3): component architecture, reactivity, Vuex/Pinia, Vue Router.
  • Solid understanding of SPA architecture, client-side and server-side rendering (CSR/SSR), and REST APIs.
  • Experience building responsive, cross-browser interfaces.
  • Good grasp of frontend performance optimization (e.g., lazy loading, code splitting, caching strategies).

Nice to have:

  • Experience with (especially SSR/SSG features).
  • Knowledge of design systems and UI libraries.

Soft skills:

  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to break down complex problems.
  • Self-sufficiency in decision-making.
  • A sense of ownership and focus on delivering quality results.
  • Initiative-driven: willing to propose improvements and care about product quality.
