About the job

The ICRC Physical Rehabilitation Unit seeks a competent Ortho-Prosthetist to join our team in Kyiv. This role is pivotal in implementing physical rehabilitation projects (PRP) that support key organizational goals and strategies, with a strong emphasis on strengthening the institution's ability to provide rehabilitation services to individuals with physical disabilities. The Ortho-Prosthetist Officer will act as the main point of contact for individuals seeking physical rehabilitation services.

As part of the multidisciplinary physical rehabilitation team, the Ortho-prosthetist plays a key role in improving the quality and accessibility of prosthetic, orthotic, and wheelchair services in ICRC-supported facilities. This includes ensuring adherence to international and internal standards of service provision, from the initial assessment and registration of service users to final discharge. The position supports capacity-building efforts, promotes good clinical and technical practices, and contributes to the overall enhancement of rehabilitation services in alignment with the PRP objectives and strategic framework.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of quality prosthetics, orthotics, and wheelchair services in ICRC-supported rehabilitation structures in line with international and ICRC standards
• Provide clinical and technical input during the provision of rehabilitation services, in compliance with local regulations and in collaboration with local staff
• Promote best practices and contribute to improving service quality and capacity in coordination with the PRP team
• Work closely with other professionals within the multidisciplinary rehabilitation team to ensure holistic and coordinated care for service users
• Participate in the planning and organization of PRP-related trainings, workshops, and field activities, providing technical input and translation support as needed
• Facilitate communication and information-sharing on the physical rehabilitation context, needs, and developments with internal and external stakeholders
• Contribute to the development of training materials and provide interpretation support during outreach, service provision, and capacity-building events
• Advise ICRC staff on cultural sensitivity and appropriate interaction with service users and local partners

About you

To be successful as Ortho-Prosthetist in the Physical Rehabilitation Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:

• Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
• Degree or Diploma in any medical sciences such as Physical Rehabilitation Medical Doctor, Ortho-Prosthetist, Physical Therapist, Biochemistry, others
• Certificate in Prosthetics and Orthotics an asset
• International Society Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) certification or equivalent an asset
• Additional courses on lower limb prosthetics an asset
• A minimum of 4 years of working experience as ortho-prosthetist with a wide scope of practice with expertise in different technologies including latest Modular/lamination technologies.
• Professional fluency in both written and spoken English and Ukrainian
• Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite
