Teacher's Success Story
Role Description/Purpose
The British Council is seeking dynamic and experienced English teachers to deliver corporate courses across our Black Sea and Wider Europe (BSWE) cluster. This hourly paid role focuses on teaching corporate clients both on-site and off-site, while also developing and customizing English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses tailored to project needs. Although your primary responsibility will be corporate instruction, you may also be invited to teach other types of classes depending on demand.
You will be part of a growing team of over 150 educators working across Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, and Ukraine. Teaching may be conducted in your country of residence or online for any country within the cluster. Our corporate courses are a key area of expansion, and your contribution will help us sustain and strengthen this growth.
Teaching assignments may include General English, Business English, ESP/EAP courses, and exam preparation for IELTS or Cambridge exams, delivered to individuals or groups. Classes are held either face-to-face—typically at the client's premises—or online. In addition to teaching, you may be involved in project work, material customization, and the creation of new training resources aligned with client needs.
To support your professional development and ensure alignment with British Council Teaching Excellence standards, you will receive guidance from your line manager and participate in regular training sessions. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and well-supported teaching environment that values innovation, flexibility, and impact.
As a member of our teaching staff, you will support the British Council's global English strategy by delivering lessons to the highest standards of English Language Teaching. You will teach a range of courses, both in-house and off-site, ensuring that your instruction meets the diverse needs and expectations of learners. Your work will align with our Teaching Quality standards and organisational goals, helping to maintain strong relationships with both clients and colleagues.
Beyond the classroom, you will contribute to the activities of the teaching centre and support the British Council's strategic plans. Your role will also help reinforce our reputation as a global leader in English language education. We value continuous professional development, and you will be encouraged to engage in ongoing learning and share best practices with your peers.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a globally respected organisation, making a meaningful impact through language education in the corporate sector.
Role Accountabilities

In this role, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons tailored to different customer groups, with attention to individual learning styles. You will monitor student progress throughout the course, provide regular feedback, and actively encourage learner autonomy.
As a collaborative member of the teaching team, you will contribute to the development, evaluation, and enhancement of English language courses, materials, and related services. You will be expected to complete teaching-related administrative tasks to the required standards, including maintaining registers, lesson records, and producing mid-course and end-of-course reports.
Professional development is a key part of this role. You will participate in ongoing training and performance management to uphold the British Council's reputation for excellence in English Language Teaching. Your work will also support the development of meaningful relationships by enriching students' understanding of contemporary UK culture.
In addition to teaching, you will assist with local marketing and promotional efforts, contribute to outstanding customer service, and provide cover for colleagues when needed.
