We are pleased to announce a new career opportunity for an Associate to join our Intellectual Property & Technologies service line in our Kyiv office. This role focuses on a wide range of IP matters such as copyright, trademarks, patents, industrial designs, personal data protection, and confidentiality.
Our team provides a comprehensive support on intellectual property matters, focusing primarily on copyright, trademarks, patents, and industrial designs. Most client tasks involve consulting on Ukrainian legislation related to copyright and trademarks. Additionally, we work on validating intellectual property objects, drafting and managing contracts regulating the transfer and licensing of rights.
We also advise on trademark and patent registrations, renewals, amendments, as well as the sale and assignment of these rights. A special focus is on personal data protection, trade secrets, confidential information, and cybersecurity. We develop tailored policies and documents for personal data processing in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Our practice boasts deep expertise across various industries, including media, advertising, gambling, energy, IT, defence, and pharmaceuticals. We collaborate with leading Ukrainian and international companies, helping them protect and manage their intellectual property assets effectively.
Key responsibilities
Intellectual property:
- Advise clients on copyright, trademarks, patents, and industrial design matters.
- Analyze validity of IP rights, licenses, and permissions for use.
- Support registration, renewal, and amendments of trademark and patent records.
- Draft, negotiate, and review contracts related to IP rights transfer (software developer agreements, employment contracts, IP licensing/sales contracts).
- Manage oppositions, assignments, and sales of intellectual property rights.
Personal data protection:
- Advise on personal data protection, trade secrets, and confidentiality.
- Develop policies, notices, and consents for personal data processing.
- Draft and edit data protection documents from scratch or based on client materials.
Administrative and client communication:
- Prepare documents for trademark and patent registrations.
- Liaise with registration authorities and clients, coordinate tasks and status updates.
- Process client inquiries, prepare legal opinions, and support coordination of team work.
- Collaborate closely with partners and team members.
Legal research and analysis:
- Conduct legal research and gather information on IP matters.
- Handle complex assignments requiring in-depth expertise.
Candidate requirements
- Law degree (higher education);
- Minimum 3 years professional experience in intellectual property law;
- Practical experience in copyright law;
- Understanding of trademark, patent, and industrial design registration processes;
- Strong contract drafting, editing, and negotiation skills;
- High level of autonomy, responsibility, and ability to manage multiple projects;
- Excellent communication skills and client management experience;
- Knowledge of personal data protection regulations is a plus;
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
