Position: Trading Risk Analyst

Reporting line: Head of Commodity Risk Management, Switzerland

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all trading activity complies with internal policies and external regulatory limits.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of physical and derivative trades uploaded into the CTRM system, ensuring alignment with current trading strategies and operations.
  • Perform daily reconciliations between CTRM data, clearing statements, and traders' recaps.
  • Ensure the accuracy of position data in the CTRM system by comparing it with external sources and traders' records.
  • Validate daily price uploads from sources such as Argus, CBOT, Matif, and FX rates from CITI.
  • Maintain and update price curves and pricing calendars in the CTRM system.
  • Liaise daily with Trading and Operations/Execution teams to ensure accurate booking in CTRM and consistency with accounting allocations.
  • Analyze daily Profit & Loss (P&L) and monitor trading risk exposures.
  • Collaborate with various departments to resolve data inconsistencies and support operational accuracy in CTRM.
  • Conduct ad hoc market or quantitative analysis as required.
  • Ensure accurate market valuation of open positions.
  • Work closely with the Head of Commodity Risk Management to assess trading strategies and transactions.
  • Support the verification and reconciliation of daily trading P&L.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Must Have:

  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in a quantitative or analytical position, preferably in trading, financial services, or investment-related fields.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with Trading, Execution, Operations, Treasury, and Risk departments.
  • Independence and objectivity in assessing trader inputs and positions.
  • Conceptual thinking with the ability to implement practical and consistent solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Python, VBA, or SQL is a strong advantage.
  • Demonstrated interest in agricultural commodity trading.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with agricultural commodity markets, including terminology, contracts, market data, and fundamentals.
  • Understanding of physical commodities trading and global trade flows.
  • Knowledge of risk management, accounting processes, and internal control frameworks.
  • Understanding of hedging strategies and derivative instruments.
  • Experience with CTRM systems (e.g., Aspect, Allegro, Openlink, etc.).

Education:

  • Strong academic background in a quantitative discipline.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Economics, or Information Technology.
