About our client

Our client is a global mining company with a world-class portfolio of products that are used by a billion consumers every day. Our client relies on data and cutting-edge data science to enhance their operations. They also use advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence to optimize their processes.

As a Back End Engineer, you will be part of a small team building enterprise-grade generative AI applications.



Responsibilities

  • Develop production-grade backend services using Python and FastAPI.

  • Build and maintain APIs for AI-driven applications.

  • Support document extraction, indexing, and evaluation pipelines.

  • Apply data engineering concepts; Databricks knowledge is helpful but not required initially.

  • Contribute to prototype UIs (e.g., Streamlit) when needed.

  • Help run and improve production systems through monitoring and logging.

  • Work within CI/CD practices and collaborate in a fast-paced agile environment.



Qualifications

  • Strong experience building production Python services.

  • Familiarity with FastAPI and modern API design.

  • Experience with document extraction/indexing pipelines is beneficial.

  • Understanding of data engineering concepts will be a plus.

  • UI exposure (e.g., Streamlit) is desirable.

  • Experience with cloud environments; Azure preferred.

  • Familiar with CI/CD and observability practices.

  • Strong communication skills, pragmatic mindset, and adaptability.
