seeks a competent
Weapon Contamination (WeC) Training & Development Field Manager
to join our team in
Kyiv
. The WeC Training and Development Field Manager plays a vital role in reducing weapon contamination (WeC) and mitigating its impact on affected communities. By leading the training and development of Delegation, Movement, and National Partner staff, this position contributes to creating a safer and more enabling environment for protection and assistance activities.

In addition to overseeing WeC training and capacity-building initiatives, the role provides mentorship and guidance on WeC standards, with particular emphasis on technical training, risk assessments, and Protection Civilian Population (PCP) documentation.

This position has both internal and external dimensions — strengthening the skills and performance of WeC staff while supporting sub-delegation training delivery in collaboration with Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS), State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU), State Transport Special Service (SSTS), and the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD).

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Delegation priorities by ensuring enabling conditions for ICRC operations in weapon-contaminated areas.
  • Train and mentor Delegation, Movement, and National Partner staff to safely operate in weapon-contaminated environments.
  • Conduct weapon-contamination risk assessments and provide analysis on the impact to staff and affected communities.
  • Design, prepare, and conduct WeC-related training and Train-the-Trainer courses, including the creation of Training Management Plans (TMPs).
  • Implement and monitor a Training and Development Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure consistent standards and continuous improvement.
  • Act as the Deputy Training and Development Manager focal point and liaise with WeC in Sub-Delegations, Movement, and National Partners to align training priorities.
  • Conduct needs assessments, offer technical mentoring, and enhance instructional materials and safety messaging in collaboration with Risk Awareness and Safer Behaviour (RASB).
  • Draft timely reports, conduct impact assessments, and analyze feedback to improve training effectiveness.
  • Participate in relevant national and regional WeC forums, support Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) delivery, and stand in for the Training and Development Manager when required.

About you

To be successful as Weapon Contamination (WeC) Training & Development Field Manager in the Weapon Contamination Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:

  • Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
  • Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) with at least 2 years of relevant experience in management, planning, and implementation of training or capacity-building programmes; or
  • First-level university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or
  • Military or police experience at officer or senior NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) level with at least 11 years of relevant experience in related fields
  • Proven experience as a manager or team leader, demonstrating strong skills in planning, coordination, supervision, and staff development
  • International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) EOD Level III certification required
  • Previous experience in Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) or related fields is a strong asset
  • CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) awareness training is desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other common computer applications
  • Professional fluency (minimum C1 level) in both English and Ukrainian, spoken and written
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
  • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
