Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and implements emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for a Protection (Explosive Ordnance Victim Assistance) Officer in Dnipro.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

The Protection (Explosive Ordnance Victim Assistance) Officer supports the Protection Team Leader and Protection Manager in timely and quality implementation of Victim Assistanceactivities for individuals affected by explosive ordnance:

• Participate in the development of activity workplans and follow them accordingly.
• Provide Victim Assistance(VA) services to vulnerable individuals, including completing assessments of the client's needs, developing action plans, sharing information and referring them to other service providers, and carrying out follow up with the client.
• Complete and ensure the safe storage of documents for the Victim Assistance activities, including referral forms and consent forms. Maintain accurate case tracking and provide timely data for reports on work performance.
• Refer clients to other service providers when needed (health, legal, shelter services etc.) and support clients to advocate for their needs with other services.
• Accompany the client to facilitate their access to services on demand.
• Provide cash or in-kind assistance to vulnerable individuals to reduce their protection risks.
• Carry out service mapping to identify the available services in the community. Build and maintain relationships with relevant governmental and non-governmental service providers to support safe referrals.
• Carry out awareness raising sessions with stakeholders to share information about services being provided by DRC and other protection information topics. Provide Age, Gender, and Disability (AGD) Inclusion training as well as any other capacity building trainings on VA.
• Conduct assessments of especially vulnerable individuals or individuals with specific protection risks for individual protection and targeted assistance and referrals. Manage individual cases, provide advice and guidance to beneficiaries on issues related to accessing required services.
• Establish and maintain coordination with local authorities, local and international non-governmental organizations in order to identify EO victims as well as community needs related to VA programming.
• Upon the need, attend VA local, district, or regional meetings as well as VA-related clusters when required.
• Contribute to and provide field-related inputs for proposals for funding for new projects.
• Provide regular reports to the Protection Team Leader and/or Protection Manager.
• Develop written and photographic reports of good practices and success stories and share them with the Protection Team Leader and/or Protection Manager. Contribute to the lessons learnt reports on VA activities.
• Support Protection (Explosive Ordnance Victim Assistance) Assisyants, their work, and contribute to their capacity development.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have Bachelor's/Specialist's/Master's degree in social sceinces (e.g. law, sociology, economy, international relations etc.) or relevant work experience for at least 1 year. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

• Confident knowledge of Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook/Exchange, Windows.
• Fluency in the Ukrainian language.
• Good communication and time management skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, perform them responsively and on time.
• High professional ethics and compliance with privacy requirements.

Desirable

• The ability to talk on sensitive topics and work with people who are in a difficult situation.
• Distinctive interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with vulnerable individuals, employees and stakeholders on different backgrounds.
• Proficiency in English language would be an advantage.

• Contract length: the fixed-term contract until 30th April 2026 after the successful completion of 3 months probation period.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council's Terms of Employment for national staff.
