Healthcare Data Scientist

CRC is widely considered as visionaries in the post-acute space, designing new care models to improve efficiency, decrease hospitalizations, and improve clinical outcomes.

We are searching for a Healthcare Data Scientist to join our team. Your primary responsibility will be to design, train, and deploy statistical and machine learning models that enhance CRC's clinical and financial analytics capabilities. You will work on projects ranging from predictive risk scoring to NLP engines, and you will collaborate directly with our engineering team to power new AI-driven products such as the analytics chatbot.

• Available M–F 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM (Central Time) and some weekends

Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop predictive models for financial and clinical outcomes (e.g., readmission risk, cost forecasts, audit automation)
• Maintain and evolve NLP engines from EMR data
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate ML models into applications (e.g., analytics chatbot)
• Partner with analysts and BI developers to translate model outputs into business-ready dashboards
• Conduct exploratory data analysis and hypothesis testing to support strategic initiatives
• Participate in rotational QA for datasets, models, and reports
• Document methodologies, assumptions, and validation processes
• Stay up to date with healthcare AI/ML research and apply best practices

Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field preferred but not required
• Equivalent certifications, hands-on ML/NLP training, and portfolio projects accepted in lieu of a formal degree
• Relevant certifications strongly considered:

Databricks Certified Machine Learning Associate or Professional

Azure AI Engineer Associate

DeepLearning.AI / Coursera ML & NLP Specializations

• 3–5 years of experience in data science, with at least 2+ years applying ML/NLP techniques (Python, scikit-learn, transformers, spaCy, PyTorch/TensorFlow)
• Demonstrated experience developing statistical and predictive models in healthcare or adjacent regulated industries
• Prior work building NLP solutions or AI-driven applications (chatbots, keyword engines, clinical text mining) preferred

Preferred Skills:

• Strong proficiency in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, PyTorch or TensorFlow)
• Experience with statistical modeling for healthcare financial and clinical data
• Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) libraries (spaCy, HuggingFace Transformers, NLTK)
• Experience deploying ML models into production notebooks and/or APIs
• SQL for feature engineering and model validation
• Familiarity with healthcare datasets (EHR, claims, revenue cycle, CMS)
• Experience building Power BI dashboards or visualizations to present model outputs
• Understanding of FHIR/SMART on FHIR data formats a plus
• GitHub/DevOps experience for model versioning and deployment
