Join the World Health Organization (WHO) as a Communications Specialist and play a crucial role in promoting the organization's mission and goals. As a key member of the WHO team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies to raise awareness about public health issues and promote the organization's work.
About the RoleThe Communications Specialist will work closely with the WHO country office to develop and implement communication strategies that align with the organization's global and regional goals. This will involve:
- Developing and implementing communication plans to promote the WHO's work and raise awareness about public health issues
- Creating engaging content for various audiences, including social media, press releases, and other communication channels
- Collaborating with national stakeholders, development partners, and other key players to produce and disseminate information on national health strategies
- Representing the WHO in the United Nations Communication Group and advocating for organizational priorities
- Developing and delivering specialized emergency or multi-hazard risk communications, social mobilization, and advocacy plans during public health crises, emergencies, and outbreaks
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of seven years of work experience in communications, with some experience in an international work environment
- Advanced university degree in a relevant field, such as communications, journalism, marketing, or international relations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to represent and promote the WHO brand in virtual communities and networks
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to develop messaging and positioning for an international organization, with the ability to elicit and communicate success stories
The WHO offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including:
- An annual base salary starting at USD 77,326
- A variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station
- 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children
