Senior Data Scientist

Ciklum is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our team full-time in Ukraine.

About the role:

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be at the forefront of building the predictive engine that powers our global delivery network. Your mission is to develop and deploy the critical machine learning models that estimate travel times (ETAs), refine routing algorithm inputs, and solve "last 100 meters" delivery challenges. You will dive deep into geospatial and real-time data to unearth valuable insights and develop scalable, reliable models for prediction. You will collaborate closely with Operations Research Scientists, Developers , and Machine Learning Engineers to integrate these predictions into our live dispatch systems. In this senior role, you will also play a pivotal part in mentoring junior team members and establishing data science best practices within the team.

Whether it's a Friday-night feast, a post-gym poke bowl, or grabbing some groceries, their tech platform connects tens of millions of customers with hundreds of thousands of restaurant, grocery, and convenience partners across the globe.

Responsibilities:

• Model Development & Deployment: Take charge of developing and implementing machine learning models for key logistics estimations, including travel time, routing data, and last-mile predictions. You will ensure these models are accurate, scalable, and reliable for high-throughput, real-time inference
• Data Analysis & Insight Generation: Dive deep into large-scale geospatial and real-time data to unearth valuable insights related to routing efficiency, courier behavior, and delivery friction points. You will translate these complex findings into actionable recommendations
• Prototyping & Validation: Rigorously test hypotheses and develop proofs-of-concept for new predictive features. You will work extensively with real-time data streams, seamlessly integrating them into our machine learning frameworks
• Technical Integration & Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Machine Learning Engineers to deploy, maintain, and enhance models in our production environment. You will partner with Developers and Operations Research Scientists, empowering them to utilize your team's predictions effectively to drive maximum operational impact
• Stakeholder Communication: Excel in communicating complex data insights and machine learning concepts to diverse audiences, from technical peers to non-technical business leaders

Requirements:

• Advanced proficiency in data science and machine learning methodologies, with a strong preference for experience in logistics, geospatial analysis, ETA prediction, or routing problems
• Proven, extensive experience in getting ML models into production, including scaling, monitoring, and maintaining them for long-term success
• Required experience with real-time data integration , stream processing, and real-time inference frameworks
• Expert-level Python (e.g., scikit-learn, pandas) in notebooks and in pure Python code for production
• Strong proficiency in SQL
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including testing, git, code reviews, and model lifecycle management
• Experience with Docker containers to support reproducible and scalable environments
• A basic understanding of mathematical optimization
• Proven leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to guide and develop junior data scientists and foster team collaboration
• A holistic project approach, from generating innovative ideas and business cases to managing the full lifecycle of your models
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to a wide range of stakeholders
• A Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
• A preference for simple, scalable, and effective solutions and strong collaborative skills in agile, cross-functional teams
