Co-train Youth in Project Management from Idea to Impact

Job Description
The NGO works to empower young people and strengthen community participation. The organization implements local and international initiatives that foster leadership, teamwork, and civic engagement among youth. Current activities include weekly non-formal education programs, intercultural exchanges, and youth-led projects aimed at community development. Partner institutions collaborate to provide access to youth from diverse educational backgrounds.

A growing challenge is the lack of practical project management skills among young people. While youth frequently generate creative ideas for community initiatives, they often lack knowledge of the full project cycle, including planning, implementation, budgeting, and reporting. These skills are essential for effective civic activity and for employability and entrepreneurship. By gaining project management expertise, youth aged 16–22 will be better equipped to transform their ideas into successful initiatives with measurable outcomes.

The NGO seeks the support of one Virtual Service Pilot Participant (VSPP) to Co-train Youth in Project Management from Idea to Impact. The VSPP will co-develop a training curriculum, conduct facilitator workshops, and mentor youth leaders in designing and implementing their own small-scale initiatives. This program will include at least one training session per week and involve approximately 20–25 participants.

The organization has previously collaborated with the Peace Corps. They understand that the role of a VSPP is very different from that of a Peace Corps Volunteer or Peace Corps Response Volunteer.

Desired Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in project management, business administration, education, or related fields

Language: Basic Ukrainian

Experience: Mentoring or coaching youth or emerging leaders

Required Skills
Education: Bachelor's degree in any field

Experience:
● 1 year of project management, program management, or related field
● 1 year delivering training, workshops, or educational sessions (formal or non-formal)
● Working with youth in some capacity as mentor, trainer, or facilitator of youth programming

Intercultural skills and motivation: Flexible, strong cross-cultural agility, high tolerance for ambiguity, able to work independently, resourceful, creative, and genuinely motivated and capable to serve virtually

Host Country Partner's Mission and Goals
NGO "KEBETAS` ASSOCIATION" is a nonprofit local organization whose mission is to promote the successful fulfillment of young people in Ukraine. Its goal is to empower young people in the community of Bila Tserkva by facilitating their personal development through English language proficiency and peer-to-peer non-formal education, thereby fostering their active participation in shaping a thriving Ukrainian society.

Virtual Service Engagement and Tasks
The VSPP will engage in the following tasks, in collaboration with their host country partners:

● Co-assess youth participants' current knowledge and skills in project management and identify priority areas for training within the first two weeks of the engagement
● Co-develop a weekly training curriculum on the full project cycle (idea development, planning, implementation, budgeting, and reporting), tailored to youth aged 16–22
● Co-design session plans and training materials for 10 interactive workshops on project management and leadership
● Co-facilitate one 60–90-minute online training session per week, focusing on practical application of project management tools and non-formal education methodologies
● Support youth teams to develop and present their own small-scale project proposals during the final phase of the program
● Conduct a final evaluation of the training program, documenting outcomes, lessons learned, and best practices for future replication

VSPPs are expected to engage on the tasks listed above for an estimated 5–15 hours per week. This engagement is expected to be 6 hours per week, including 2–3 hours of synchronous collaboration online with the host country partner.

Online collaboration will generally occur between 4:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. Kyiv time. Specific times will be determined during orientation.

The host country counterpart will have access to Zoom, WhatsApp, Telegram, and email for regular communication and collaboration.

Per the Child Protection Code of Conduct, when engaging online with minors (0–18), two adults must be present.
